CONNECTING THROUGH PLAY – THE KAIZEN WAY
The Curriculum:
This event will unpack the importance of play as a concept in canine development and training, as well as exploring the ‘whys and how’s that will empower participants to introduce or improve play into the existing training practice with their own dogs.
Though there is a theory component delivered to underpin the hands on dog training involved it’s important to note this is a highly practical seminar, as evidence by the 10 working spots available.
Your Instructors:
Editors Note: The easiest way to write a CV for Ben Guerts would be using bullet points, but even that would be far too long.
Ben Geurts is one of Australia’s most experienced dog trainers, with a depth and breadth of experience working with a volume of high performance dogs, and in multiple specialist capacities.
Ben served in K9 related roles both the Australian Army and the Royal Australian Air Force, to include working closely with certain special forces elements.
He continues to develop his craft now as a civilian dog trainer, producing multiple single and dual purpose dogs for highly demanding military and policing roles, as well as delivering training to military and police dog handers in multiple states of Australia.
You can hear Ben’s appearance on The STIM Podcast below:
Together with his wife Sam – frequently referred to as his ‘much better half.’ – the Geurts’ own and operate Kaizen K9 based in Perth, Western Australia.
Ben’s wife Sam Geurts may have married a dog trainer, but she certainly didn’t ‘marry into dog training’.
Samantha Geurts is a skilled dog trainer in her own right. Evan as a Director of Kaizen K9, Sam can still be found day in, day out working hands on with clients and their dogs.
Sam’s training background goes back well before her involvement with Kaizen K9, and she has long been IGP competitor – most recently achieving an IGP 1 title with her Malinois named Frag in late 2022.
Samantha has also been an integral part of the development of the dogs that Kaizen have developed for military and law enforcement roles over the past six years.
Kaizen K9 delivers a wide variety of classes and services including competition obedience, scent work, IGP, and customised 1-1 training programs.
In the past two years Kaizen’s training staff have followed the example set by their principals and have not only been frequent competitors across multiple dog sports, but they’ve been achieving high standards in their own rights.
