RIP Diesel

This is very sad news to share with you – very close to our hearts.

Many of you that have followed along Snap’s journey will know of her ‘boyfriend’ Diesel.

Outside of Kana and myself, Diesel and Kim were Snap’s closest and most adored friends.

Diesel was 10yo, and was suffering from some serious health concerns.

Though he was mentally 100%, he was in quite an amount of pain on a daily basis. The nature of his health concerns meant much more pain ahead, with the intensity worsening.

On strong veterinary advice Diesel’s owner Kim was left with a very difficult decision to make, and now Diesel is no longer with us.

That was not an easy decision for Kim – but she made it, with Diesel’s welfare as her first and foremost consideration…in spite of the massive hole it leaves in her heart.

I was on the verge of tears myself when I was told, and Diesel wasn’t my own dog.

Though he wasn’t my dog, I knew him better than most.

Those that know me will tell you that I am extremely particular about choosing which dogs Snap will interact with to any great degree: that I made such an effort for Snap to spend so much time in his company should tell you all what a valuable influence I consider him to have been.

I consider Diesel’s patience and friendship to Snap to have been a pivotal part of her development into the well rounded bitch she is proving herself to be.

I’ve been sitting on this for a few days, just to let a little time pass for our dear friend Kim.

Kim, I love you buddy – if more dog owners invested the time, effort and tireless dedication to their dogs in the way you did towards your best mate Diesel – well, the world would be a very different place for dogs.

I’m proud to say Diesel was my friend.

He will be missed by many, and will always be remembered in our household.
