K9 Services International are great at turning the complex task of puppy training and socialisation into a simple process that is easy to understand and easy to achieve. Our puppy training and socialisation program gives your puppy the best start possible in life so it is important that you make the time to come and train with us – your puppy will thank you.
Puppies from 6-16 weeks are in what is called the Critical Socialisation Period (CSP), and it has been proven that learning the right lessons and having the right exposures during this time can influence every aspect of a dog’s future life. Areas affected include, but are not limited to, the way your dog relates to other dogs and animals, the way he deals with stress, his ability to learn and be trained easily, his inner confidence, his recovery from injury, and the list goes on and on.
Early learning is super important in your puppy’s training and development and we know that initial learning interferes with later learning – and this works for us and against us, as it all depends on whether your dog’s early learning is useful or not! Early learning, or ‘imprinting’ as dog trainers and dog behaviourists often call it, can prevent bad behaviour patterns later in life, or create a dog with bad habits you will constantly have to fight and manage.
The above point will help you to more clearly recognise why the choices you make about your puppy’s early training and development are so important. Equally, the quality of your own initial education about how to raise, develop and train your puppy are crucially important!
Aside from creating a ‘winner’s mindset’ in your puppy, our puppy training programs aim to imprint basic obedience positions (such as a drop, sit, etc) in your puppy’s mind as being really fun and advantageous activities to be in. Working this way means that we now have very robust behaviours even in a young dog, and when we later need to raise our expectations and introduce distractions to the dog he will typically need very little help to work out that he now must perform that behaviour that he really likes to do (the choice is now gone).
We also place a heavy focus on educating you on how to make good decisions about managing your dog’s behaviour, and on making sure you have the tools to continue moving forward your dog’s training whilst you are away from our instruction. This means you and your dog have the best possible chance of success.
In summary, K9 Services International are great at making the complicated job of raising and training a puppy into a simple process that is easy to understand, and easy to achieve. If giving your puppy the best start in life is important to you then make the time to come and train with us – your puppy will thank you.
